The Spectrograph
The TNG High Resolution spectrograph SARG with the low resolution spectrograph DOLORES Photo of FM1 within the DoLoRes input Slide. This folding mirror redirects the light exiting horizontally along the elevation axis towards the entrance slab of SARG. Inside the tube a lens (L1) transforms the F/11 TNG beam into a F/34.4 one allowing a suitable focal position far from the elevation axis. The iodine cell is mounted inside its alluminium case. Top view of the iodine cell holder. The holder is made in DELRIN. A protective window is mounted.
The SARG camera The SARG Image Slicer at the University College of London Optical Laboratory The SARG electronic Rack. From bottom to the top: on first shelf the CCDs controllers; second shelf: Heaterstat (heater) power supplies and shutter controls. Diagnostic for heaterstat are housing on a DIN bar. Three motor controllers for the nine spectrograph motorized functions. On the last but one shelf, the RS-232 multiplexer and the temperature monitor are located. Finally the VME crate. Some of the 30 active elements of DATCS (Distributed Active Thermal Control System)
SARG is unloading at TNG nake SARG Peter, Rosario and Riccardo are executing the "fine" alignment of the spectrograph Please don't move!
