CODEVISIR

his project has as main scientific drive the study of Gamma-Ray Bursts (GRBs). The most important advancement in the research related to GRBs are undoubtedly due to the launch of the Swift satellite. In addition to its data, a breakthrough in the field can be achieved by a new middle size visible-infrared (VIS-IR) robotic fast pointing telescope operating together with other planned and designed Space and ground based facilities. The basic concepts of the proposed observing facility require a fast medium size robotic telescope with instrumentation sensitive from optical to NIR - IR wavelengths. The technical part of the feasibility study will especially focus on the optimization of the tuning of the instruments at the telescope focal plane also in relation to the needed cryogenic performances and low thermal noise. The project is funded by the PRIN-MIUR 2007 INAF OAPD has the responsability for the Medium-IR instrumentation.
