| AFOSC basically consists basically of a collimator, a camera and three
wheels with eight holes which house several optical elements. This instrument
was provided by the Astronomical Observatory of Copenhagen. Light from the
telescope passes through the slit (spectroscopy mode) or the hole (imaging
mode) to the slit wheel and is gathered by the collimator. In the collimated
beam, between the collimator and the camera, the light passes through the
filter and the grism wheels where the exit pupil of the instrument is positioned.
Finally the light is imaged by the camera on the detector. |
